Explore MAK's Robust Ecosystem of Partners and Distributors!

Think of the MAK ecosystem of technology partners, complementary products, and international distributors like the simulation systems we help people make. Our core values of flexibility, extensibility, and interoperability are built into the way we make software at every level – this means that we partner with companies with great technology rather than rebuild it to be exclusively MAK’s. We collaborate with other companies to help our customers find the right solution, even if that means that MAK gets a smaller part of the deal. We support our customers in mastering the simulation arts over the long term, and they become centers of excellence capable of providing even greater solutions for their end-users.

NICO AI

NICO is more than just a pretty face. Built on advanced AI, NICO understands human language, interprets intent, and makes decisions in complex training environments.

The AI technology that enables NICO to understand human language–and intent–along with NICO’s reasoning power, allows it to participate in synthetic environments, without showing up as a metahuman avatar.

Whether it’s generating dynamic OPFOR strategies, interpreting military doctrine, or reacting in real-time to trainee actions, NICO reduces human workload while increasing realism, adaptability, and training value.

And when that intelligence needs to show up in human form…

NICO Avatar

NICO Avatar brings that same intelligence to life as a realistic virtual human. It can hold conversations, respond to speech or text, and simulate roles ranging from friendly civilians and cooperative teammates to hostile interrogators.

By combining lifelike interaction with the power of NICO AI, NICO Avatar delivers immersive training at scale, without the logistical burden of live role-players.

Watch this video to see NICO AI in action inside VR-Forces.

MUD CRANE

As part of an Army SBIR program, MAK partnered with Boston Fusion, a cutting-edge tech company specializing in AI/ML and DRL, to develop MUD CRANE, a multi-domain C2 reinforcement learning training environment. Boston Fusion integrated its DRL agent with VR-Forces to perform rapid course of action analysis. By running VR-Forces simulations faster than real time, the DRL agent can evaluate and learn from multiple tactical approaches, ultimately training its models to predict and refine the most effective decisions for mission success.

Agentic AI Integration

As part of its forward-looking R&D efforts, ST Engineering integrated Agentic AI with MAK’s VR-Forces. The AI interprets high-level objectives given in natural language, extracts appropriate VR-Forces scenarios, and uses Generative AI to dynamically task entities. This transforms how users interact with simulations, bridging the gap between intent and execution.

UK Army FORGE Program

MAK is proud to support the UK Army’s FORGE (Future Operational Research Game Environment) program, led by Cervus, an innovative UK-based defense tech company.

FORGE uses AI to automate defense experimentation, integrating VR-Forces with LLMs that extract and summarize key doctrine and research documents. These AI-powered insights enable automated Course of Action (COA) analysis. Now entering its second year of a three-year program, FORGE is setting a new bar for experimentation at scale.

AI-Powered Analytics Plugin

This joint effort brings powerful AI-driven analytics to military simulation. Mission Decision’s new plugin for VR-Forces enables Natural Language Queries and interactive dashboards for mission-critical decision support.

Built by Mission Decisions in partnership with ST Engineering Antycip and MAK, the platform handles real-time data at scale, making it easier to conduct After Action Reviews and uncover long-term trends—no data science background required.
