VT MAK Announces VR-Vantage Plan View Display

VR-Vantage 1.3 release brings new 2D tactical map display, free terrain and model viewer, and improvements to full product line

Cologne, Germany, ITEC, May 10, 2011 ― VT MAK (MAK), a company of VT Systems, Inc. (VT Systems), today announced the release of the VR-Vantage Plan View Display (PVD), the newest addition to the VR-Vantage line of products. This 2D visual solution provides a tactical map view of the virtual world, for use in mission planning and After Action Review. VR-Vantage PVD is part of the VR-Vantage 1.3 product release, which brings improvements to the full line of VR-Vantage solutions.

The release of VR-Vantage 1.3 also introduces VR-Vantage FreeView, a free model and terrain viewer available with any VR-Vantage product or via download from www.mak.com/freeview. With FreeView, users can view their existing terrain databases and models. FreeView also allows users to experience the VR-Vantage user interface and terrain composition capabilities and the VR-TheWorld Online terrain server.

MAK's full line of visualization products comprises:

  • VR-Vantage XR - All the functionality of a 3D Stealth viewer and a 2D PVD viewer with the added unique "eXaggerated Reality" mode to achieve a big picture understanding of a battlefield situation, while maintaining an immersive sense of perspective.
  • VR-Vantage Stealth - A 3D visualization tool that focuses on information. It provides a wide variety of data about the networked virtual world, overlaid on a realistic 3D scene.
  • VR-Vantage IG - An image generation software solution that can render a first-person view for a virtual trainer, provide a sensor channel for a UAV simulation, or generate simulated security camera feeds for a homeland security application.
  • VR-Vantage Toolkit - A powerful and flexible platform for developing 2D and 3D visualization applications.

MAK will be demonstrating VR-Vantage Plan View Display and the full line of VR-Vantage products at its ITEC booth, #E120.

“The addition of the VR-Vantage Plan View Display marks the completion of the transition of our visualization applications to the VR-Vantage architecture. This provides all our customers with a new and fresh visual experience powered by all the advantages of hardware acceleration and cutting edge programming techniques.”

“The way people visualize their environment is the way people understand their environment. The integration of the Plan View Display into the VR-Vantage visualization suite helps customers build systems which tightly couple the 2D view required for understanding large environments seamlessly with the intimate 3D view required for understanding small details.”
