THE JOB:

MAK Technologies is looking for a Principal Engineer to architect modelling and simulation training solutions, develop technical approaches and communicate those to potential MAK customers. The Proposal Solution Architect will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in our fast-paced growing environment supporting new business capture by developing innovative solutions. MAK’s solution architects work closely with capture, development, and operations teams to create training solutions that meet customer needs. The Training Solutions Architect will lead multi-disciplined teams in the creation and delivery of work products.

 

RESPONSIBLE FOR:

• Defining and driving the technical direction of prospective business opportunities, developing system architectures, and providing technical leadership for proposals and strategic pursuits

• Defining features, phases, and solution requirements.

• Reviewing Customer documents to understand scope of work and customer needs to develop an overarching solution to be proposed as part of the solicitation response

• Proposing new and innovative solutions to the most complex challenges

• Assist with determining level of effort estimates for various efforts, using information provided as part of the solicitation documentation, to determine most cost efficient and effective staffing approaches

• Communicating solutions with customers, management, and teaming partners, including presentations and white papers

• Converting proposals and customer contract documents to program plans and schedules.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent related experience

• 10-15 years leading training solutions projects and development teams

• Experience supporting proposal efforts, comprising a diverse matrixed team of technical specialists, and involving the development of novel or innovative new solutions

• Seasoned knowledge of software development methodologies, including agile development

• Seasoned knowledge of systems engineering including model-based system engineering

• Strong skills in research and converting customer requirements into training solutions

• Skilled at technical project management in a cooperative environment

• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently while achieving collective objectives

• Experience leading architecture of application integration, migration, and sustainment solutions involving understanding of software support, maintenance, and sustainment

• Knowledge of requirements analysis and development to include requirements allocation to software systems functionality

• Strong problem-solving abilities

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

• Ability to work with others to coordinate efforts, resolve cross-team issues and effectively communicate changes

• Demonstrated customer interface skills and strong interpersonal skills including extensive experience working closely with teammates and customers to identify and develop solutions

• Must be a “U.S. Person” as defined in 22 CFR § 120.15

 

BACKGROUND IN ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING IS A PLUS:

• Design and support of commercial C++ software development kits

• Working knowledge of IEEE 1516 (HLA) or IEEE 1287 (DIS) a strong plus

• QT-based GUI development

• Experience with training solutions in the live, virtual, constructive and integrated domains

• Defense contractor, DOD, or military experience

• Understanding of U.S. Army training doctrine
