Situational Awareness Stations
A Situational Awareness Station provides 2D and 3D views of a geographical area that allow trainees, response teams, and VIPs to visualize people, places, and assets as they train, respond to crises, or observe simulation outcomes.
There are a wide variety of critical incidents that may affect your echelon, business, campus, or lab. Natural disasters, IED’s, terror alerts, transportation crashes, hazardous material spills, public health emergencies and infrastructure failures are just a few examples of events that may challenge a Command Team responsible for coordinating a response.
A Situational Awareness Station provides key information such as the location and state of all critical assets and threats, at multiple levels of resolution, in real time. By combining 2D tactical maps overlaid with operational symbols and tactical graphics as well as real time sensor and camera feeds, the Command Team can get a clear picture of the situation as it unfolds.
In a training or laboratory environment the Situational Awareness Station can be used by VIP’s in an Observation Center or by students during After Action Review sessions.
MÄK Situational Awareness Stations
The MÄK Situational Awareness Station provides a Common Operating Picture for the command team to use to help make decisions. It can be connected into any Situational Awareness or Incident Management System.
A Situational Awareness Station will likely make use of the following MÄK capabilities:
- Visualization – The situational awareness viewer includes a 2D tactical map display, a realistic 3D view, and an eXaggerated Reality (XR) 3D view. The 3D view provides an immersive experience. The 2D and XR views provide the big picture view and allow users to monitor overall activity. Core technology: VR-Vantage.
- Protocol Translation – Battle Labs and response centers may use components from multiple vendors. If these components have not been built to use common distributed simulation standards, such as DIS or HLA, or if they use incompatible versions of these standards, a translation application is needed. - Correlated Terrain – VT MÄK’s approach to terrain, terrain agility, ensures that you can use the terrain formats you need, when you need them. We can also help you develop custom terrains and can integrate them with correlated terrain solutions to ensure interoperability with other applciations. - Sensor modeling – The visualization component can model visuals through different sensor spectrums, such as infrared and night vision. Core technology: JRM SensorFX.
