Interoperability
VT MÄK applications are all about interoperability. With native support for Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) and multiple versions of the High Level Architecture (HLA) and Federation Object Models (FOM), many customers need do nothing more than run a MÄK application to connect to an exercise. However, we know that many customers need to interoperate with systems that do not use these protocols or use specialized versions of them. Our interoperability service offerings can help you make the connections you need for successful simulations.
FOM Development
One of the strengths of the HLA is the flexibility to create custom FOMs to meet the exact needs of a federation. If the RPR FOM or other available FOM does not meet your needs, we can help you develop a customized FOM for your project. We will analyze your objects and interactions. We can extend the RPR FOM or some other FOM to meet your needs. If you want your application to work with MÄK’s VR-Link-based applications, we can write FOM mappers for VR-Link. And we can add new classes, state repositories and so on to VR-Link to support FOM extensions or concepts that are supported out of the box.
HLA/DIS Integration
VR-Exchange provides a solid foundation for HLA/DIS interoperation. If your simulation has additional requirements or needs custom VR-Exchange brokers, we can help you create them.
SIM-C4I Interoperability
In order to train commanders in the use of C4I systems, you need to stimulate those systems. We can help you get the data from your CGF into your C4I system. For example our command staff trainer, Battle Command, can interact with C2PC systems using custom VR-Exchange brokers. If you are using a CJMTK-compliant system, we can help you get HLA data into your ESRI-based system using our GIS-to-SIM technology.
LVC Interoperability
Complex LVC simulations may involve many live actors along with hundreds of federates across multiple sites, communicating across a WAN. Systems may be using some combination of TENA, HLA, or DIS, with custom FOMs and LROMs. We have helped customers optimize routing of simulation traffic and ensured that applications using different protocols could interoperate. We can do the same for you.
GIS Interoperability
GIS systems contain all types of terrain data and terrain analysis tools. Most simulation applications can only use terrain data in formats such as OpenFlight or DTED. With its GIS-to-SIM and GEMS technology, MÄK has demonstrated how to get simulation data into GIS systems and how to use GIS terrain data directly in CGFs such as VR-Forces and OneSAF. Let us help you connect your simulation applications to the GIS world.
Interoperability Protocol Implementation
MÄK’s Link products - VR-Link, MÄK RTI, and VR-Exchange - provide the tools you need to connect applications using TENA, DIS, and HLA. However in a world of custom FOMs and LROMs, they are just a starting point. We understand how these protocols work and how to make them work together.
Terrain Agility Integration
Terrain Agility is that special characteristic of MÄK products that allow them to work with many different terrain approaches. Our products share terrain technology so that we can achieve correlation between visual and simulation application. We can help you integrate our innovative VR-inTerra technology into your simulation applications so they can join our correlated simulation environment.
