Installing the License Manager Software

As part of the installation of all MÄK products, the Flexlm software is installed in the flexlm directory under the root product directory.

Install your MÄK products on the machine(s) on which you want to run them.
Decide which computer will be the license server.
Copy the files in the <makproduct>/flexlmx.x directory to the license server. On Windows, copy the flexlm directory to the C: drive (C:\flexlm). On UNIX systems, the flexlm directory is typically copied to /usr/local/flexlm
If you are running the license server on a UNIX computer, in the flexlm directory, run lmhostid. Copy down the host ID string. You need it and the name of the server for the license file request form.

If you are running on a Windows PC, in the flexlm directory, run lmtools.exe.
- Select the System Settings tab.
- The Host ID is the string in the Ethernet Address text box. The license server name is the name in the Computer/Hostname text box.
- Copy down the host ID string. You need it and the name of the server for the license file request form.
After you install the Flexlm software, request a license file.
