Installing A Product from CD

To install an application on a UNIX platform:

You can install the product into any directory for which you have write permissions.

  1. Mount the CD-ROM.
  2. Run:
       ./install
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

To install an application on a PC:

The product may be supplied to you on an "All Products" CD with a common installation interface or a CD that does not support common installation. To install the product from a CD:

  1. Insert the product CD into your CD-ROM drive.
    • If this is an All Products CD, and the autorun feature is enabled, the MÄK PC Products Installation window opens.
      If the MÄK PC Products Installation window does not open, open the Windows Explorer. In the root directory for your CD drive, double-click makInst.exe. The MÄK PC Products Installation window opens.
    • If this is not an All Products CD, and autorun is enabled, an installation program may start immediately.
      If the installation does not start automatically, open the Windows Explorer and select the CD drive. In the root directory for the Product, double-click setup.exe. Go to step 3.
  2. In the MÄK PC Products Installation window, click the name of the product you want to install.
  3. Follow the instructions of the installation program.

Installing A Downloaded Product

If you download a MÄK product from our ftp site, it is a compressed tar file (UNIX) or a zip file (Windows).

To install an application on a UNIX platform:

  1. Create the directory in which you want to install the product.
  2. Copy the tar file to the install directory.
  3. Uncompress the tar file:
    gunzip product.tar.gz
  4. Untar the file:
    tar -xvf product.tar

To install an application on a PC:

  1. Copy the zip file to a temporary directory.
  2. Unzip the zip file.
  3. Run setup.exe.
  4. Follow the instructions of the installation program.
